    District Rural Development System Department

    The District Rural Development System has been established under the Registration of Societies Act 1860 and the Bombay Public Trustee Act 1950 for effective implementation of the centrally sponsored scheme in the state. For effective implementation of the schemes, Government Decision No. GRAP-1121 P.K.43/ Scheme-5, Ministry of Mumbai – 400 001 The new structure has been implemented with effect from 1 April 2022.

    To eradicate poverty in the rural areas of the state, the Central Government started the National Rural Livelihood Promotion Mission in the year 2011. The Department of Rural Development and Water Conservation of the Government of Maharashtra issued a detailed government decision on 18 July 2011.

    1. To help families below the poverty line to improve their standard of living by providing financial assistance through various schemes.

    2. To provide financial stability to the economically weaker sections and self-help groups through the banking system.

    3. To provide permanent shelter to families below the poverty line and provide basic facilities through the Gharkul scheme.

    4. To provide various training and financial support to women in rural areas under the Lakhpati Didi scheme.

    •To implement Central Government sponsored schemes.

    •To provide benefits to families below poverty line under individual and group schemes.

    •To make women self-reliant through self-help groups (to achieve the objective achieved through Lakhpati Didi Yojana).

    •To provide financial assistance to self-help groups to provide self-employment and to assist them in providing loans.

    •To provide financial assistance to families below poverty line through Gharkul Yojana and to provide them with permanent shelter.

    •To implement special schemes implemented by the Government of India and the Government of Maharashtra from time to time. To provide adequate financial, managerial and organizational support to individual and group beneficiaries for investment and implementation of productive schemes in all areas of development such as small industries in order to achieve the main objectives of the schemes and to take all necessary action for this.
