    Introduction

    The history of Vidarbha is ancient. Vidarbha has been ruled by Vakatakas, Chalukyas, Yadavas, Mughals, Nizams, British over the years. Bhandara District is a part of Varhad Province in Vidarbha. Bhandara village is famous as historical and ancient. This district is known as the center of political and socio-cultural movement since ancient times. Bhandara district is famous for Lakes and fragrant rice variety. Bhandara district is known as lake district. This district is rich in forest resources.

    There were total 15 talukas in Bhandara district and till the division of this district on May 1, 1999 and the creation of a new district called Gondia. Now there are 7 talukas in Bhandara district.

    Area and Population : The area of Bhandara district is 3716.65 sq. km. And the geographical area is 3,89,000 ha. Average rainfall is 1330.20 mm. According to the 2011 census, the population is 12,00,334.

    Geographical Composition: In the district, the Ambagad mountain range, a branch of the Satpuda mountain, is in the south-eastern part of the West-East district and the Gaikhuri mountain range is in the central part of the district from Bhandara town to Gondia town. Among them, Kharra Pahari is 2009 feet high, Lendezari is 1490 feet high and Jamni is 1722 feet high. There are 7 talukas in the district and 7 panchayat samitis .
