    Social Welfare Department, Zilla Parishad Bhandara implements schemes for backward class students, disabled people and for the social upliftment of backward class people in rural areas.

    Introduction

    Social Welfare Department Zilla Parishad Bhandara implements schemes for backward class schools, subsidized hostels for backward class students, scholarships for backward class students, Dalit settlement improvement scheme and backward class and disabled people under district fund 20 percent and 5 percent respectively. Similarly, salary allowances and service related work of disabled school employees, inter-caste marriages as well as marriage incentive grants for disabled-disabled and disabled-disabled.

    Vision and Mission

    To promote and publicize the schemes implemented by the Social Welfare Department, Zilla Parishad Bhandara Division at the village level and to implement the Dalit Settlement Improvement Scheme and the Scholarship Scheme to improve the educational level of backward class students to improve the living standards of the backward class people.

    Objectives and Functions

    * To organize the Social Welfare Committee meeting within 30 days and to prepare the minutes of the meeting within the prescribed time and make it available to all the concerned members.

    * To prepare information about all the general meetings and standing committee meetings of the District Council and to be present at the meeting.

    * To implement the Right to Information Act-2005.

    * To take action to prepare a proposal for the benefit of the heirs on compassionate grounds after the death of the employees.

    * To examine the cases of 12 and 24 years of benefit for Class-3 employees and submit them for approval to the Hon’ble Regional Deputy Commissioner, Social Welfare Department, Nagpur.

    * Handling matters related to establishment of office and disabled school employees.

    * Maintaining the service seniority list of employees.

    * Maintaining the 100 point roll of employees.

    * Preparing the annual administration report.

    * Inspecting the hostels and ensuring that their records are in the prescribed format and complete.

    * Inspecting the disabled schools and ensuring that their records are in the prescribed format and complete.

    * Various scholarship schemes are implemented by the Maharashtra Government and the Central Government for backward class school students through the Social Welfare Department.

    State Government

    a.) Dr. Ambedkar Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for students of Vijayabhaj category studying in 1st to 10th, State share 25 percent.

    b.) etc. Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for Other Backward Classes students studying in 1st to 10th State share 50 percent.

     

    Central Government

    a.) Dr. Ambedkar Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for Vijabhaj category students studying in 1st to 10th Central share 75 percent.

    b.) Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for Other Backward Classes students studying in 1st to 10th Central share 50 percent.
